On 10/1/2013
Got to get out to the tennis courts. Also watching some videos online about playing tennis and ways to improve my technique.
On 3/2/2013 Practised at home for about an hour.
Also read on book called "How to Improve Your Tennis in 8 Weeks or Less" that I bought on Amazon that will help me improve my technique over a number of weeks.
On 18/5/2013:
I was able to get in 2 hours of tennis in and in June I plan to continue having at least an 1 hour a day playing tennis, when I am no longer at college - this will give me the free time I need. I will watch the videos and maybe get some tennis lessons from an instructor.
I have definitely improved over the months since I set my target of "To improve My tennis" - this has been through practising and also watching the videos and reading the books and learning the new skills. I will improve on this over the summer.
Target achieved (still ongoing).

1. On the 1/1/2013 I was part of an online tournament.
I also bought some strategy games online from amazon.

I was able to complete a few games and tried out some new games.
In June I plan to be playing my friends in an online tournament.

" - this has been through online tournaments. I will improve on this over the summer as I will have more time on my hands. I am also going to research online on how cheats for the games I am interested in.

1. 1/15/2013 Working with installing upgrade computers in the college.
I also watched the two videos above and they helped me to know what I was doing.
2. 6/3/2013 Installed an operating system as part of my college course.
I found the above video useful in understanding what an operating system is how to install an operating system. We also had tutorials in class from our tutor which helped too.
Reading "Dummies" guides also helped me find out more if I didn't understand.

I was using virtual machine to install windows 7.
We also had guidance on how to do this from our tutor.
Target review:
I think I have achieved my target of "To improve… My knowledge of computer hardware". The main thing here is to read around outside of class time. Watching videos and reading books and technical magazines will mean I am always on top - as everything in computer hardware is changing all the time.
In June I will taking a break from computer hardware

23/3/2013 Made goals on completing work by deadlines and making sure that I stick to it. I watched a video on making smart targets. This has helped the way I think when I set goals.
10/4/2013 I was able to create a table to keep track of my progress. I have used this PDP as a way of keeping track of my goals. I update it and review it regularly.
May-Through this month I have been able to keep up with my work and on my way to passing the course. In June I plan to keep the motivation with tennis. This video was recommended to me and it helped to achieve my goals over the year.
Target review: To improve… motivation I am more motivated to achieve what I want to. I now am able to break my tasks down into smaller tasks which makes me more motivated that I can achieve them. This is not something that will be fixed overnight. This is something I will have to work on. Target status: Achieved/Ongoing |

This ia a big step for me. I was able to work with Martin to get the work done and present in front of my tutor and the whole class.
2. On the 4/5/2013 I did another presentation for another unit. I can see an improvement on this as I have taken the feedback from my earlier presentation and used it to improve my presentation skills. I can see a big improvement here.
May-On different occasions in classes I have had to speak in front of them.
In June I will be doing different outdoor activities. Target review: I think I have made progress on this, but there is still room for improvement. I have learned alot of presenting this year as we had a presentation unit and also we learned all about interpersonal communication and reducing barriers (all on this blog). I can see this is ongoing and something I will have to work on. Target: achieved as I have improved, but I will still try to improve even more. |

I used Microsoft word to grammar check. I also make sure I proof read the work and get my tutor to as well, because what I am finding is the spell check can be correct with no errors, but the word might not be right. That is where proof reading comes in. Read and write is good as it reads the document out loud to me, so I can decide then if the word is the one I am trying to use.
3. On 4/5/2013
I used a program that would check the grammar. I also use online help to help me with grammar checking - this is a good website that I found. On the Oxford Dictionary website there is also a list of words that are mixed up a lot. I have bookmarked this so I can check my words.
Improving grammar is an ongoing target. It is not something I should take a break from and it is something I will continue to work on. The target is achieved as I have improved. However there is still room for improvement and I will try to improve over the summer. |
